AYERS Three Passive HD: Technology that inspires
- Innovative low-frequency concept: The Three uses a side-mounted 18cm woofer with a
fiberglass-reinforced paper cone for impressive deep bass response.
- Precise midrange reproduction:: A 12cm mid-woofer with the same cone and die-cast
aluminium basket handles the upper bass range and deep vocals, filtered up to 24 dB.
- High-resolution highs: The silk dome tweeter with precision-coated textile diaphragm
provides excellent dispersion up to over 20 kHz and a wide radiation pattern.
- Encapsulated crossover: The computer-optimized crossover with high-quality components is
housed in an airtight chamber, ensuring precision and detail.
- Slim front creates wide soundstage: The slim front of the speakers creates a holographic sound image, regardless of your listening position.
The AYERS Three Passive Plus is a technologically advanced floor-standing speaker that delivers an exceptional listening experience through its innovative low-frequency concept, precise midrange and high-frequency reproduction, and optimized crossover. The careful development and use of high- quality components result in a sound image that is both detailed and spatially impressive.

AYERS Three - klein aber oho!
Fazit: sehr empfehlenswert.

Frequently asked questions about the AYERS Three Passive HD
Sound – What are the sonic highlights of the AYERS Three Passive HD?
The sonic highlights of the small AYERS Three Passive HD floor-standing speaker include:
- A very deep and dry bass reproduction.
- A long-term suitable, fatigue-free sound profile that allows for hours of music enjoyment.
- Very good detail reproduction with a slight softness, which makes even poor recordings sound good.
- A very wide dispersion, ideal for modern floor plans, ensuring music sounds complete and engaging even outside the ideal listening position.
- Impressive soundstage imaging, which allows artists to be localized across the width and depth of the room.
- A complete sound image even at low volume, particularly including the bass range.
Product name - What does the addition of HD in the product name mean?
The addition stands for our change in enclosure material from MDF (medium-density fiberboard) to HDF (high-density fiberboard). Due to its higher density, HDF has greater internal damping and mass. While MDF is the proven standard, HDF further enhances the performance of your speaker in terms of precision and purity. This has an effect on the bass range, making it even drier, faster, and more precise. Furthermore, the depth and stability of the spatial imaging are further enhanced.
Music – What kind of music is the AYERS Three Passive HD floor-standing speaker suitable for?
Our small floor-standing speaker is excellently suited for any type of music style or genre.
Difference from AYERS Four – What is the difference between the AYERS Three and the AYERS Four?
The differences between the AYERS Three and Four are as follows:
- The AYERS Three is a smaller floor-standing speaker compared to the Four, and due to its laterally integrated subwoofer, it is slimmer than the AYERS Four.
- The AYERS Four operates with two woofers on the front as a classic 3-way floor-standing speaker and is slightly wider compared to the AYERS Three.
- The sound of the AYERS Four is in nuances slimmer and more analytical than that of the Three.
- The AYERS Three, in turn, has a slight softness, allowing even poor recordings to sound good, and its sound is somewhat warmer and fuller than the AYERS Four.
- Due to the achievable maximum level, the AYERS Three is suitable for rooms up to approximately 25 sqm, while the Four can also be used in rooms up to 40 sqm.
Wireless Version – What is the difference between the passive AYERS Three and the wireless version?
The wireless version of the AYERS Three differs from the passive version as follows:
- The wireless version is an active speaker, equipped with DDFA power amplifiers providing up to 250 watts of system power.
- An external amplifier, as required with the passive version, is no longer necessary.
- The wireless version receives the music signal via a digital radio signal, known as the KleerNet standard (not Bluetooth).
- The digital music signal is transmitted without loss.
- Unlike the passive version, the distribution of low and high frequencies to the woofers and tweeters is not handled by a crossover network, but by a digital signal processor (DSP) that processes the music signal at up to 192 kHz/24 bit.
Speaker Placement – What are important aspects for placing the AYERS Three Passive HD?
There are only a few key aspects for placing the AYERS Three Passive Plus, as we designed the product to be particularly straightforward in its placement. These include:
- A recommended wall distance of 15 – 30 cm depending on the spatial conditions.
- Placement in a classic stereo triangle, which can also be narrower. This means the speakers can be closer together than the listening position is distant.
- Only a very slight toe-in of the speakers towards the listening position (approx. 5 degrees) for ideal soundstage imaging.
Side-Mounted Bass Driver – Is it relevant whether the integrated subwoofer of the AYERS Three floor-standing speaker faces outwards or inwards?
Yes, it is relevant, as it gives you the option to adjust the intensity of the bass reproduction:
- If the speakers are close to or in room corners, pointing the woofers inwards is sensible.
- If the speakers are freestanding to the left and right, pointing them outwards is preferred.
Wall-Near Placement – How far should the AYERS Three Passive HD be from the wall?
We recommend a minimum distance of 15 cm from the wall for this floor-standing speaker. Ideal values have been found to be between 20 – 40 cm.
Room Size – What room size is the AYERS Three Passive HD floor-standing speaker suitable for?
The AYERS Three Passive HD is a small floor-standing speaker and can comfortably fill rooms up to 25 sqm.
Large Rooms – Can I also use the AYERS Three Passive HD in larger rooms?
Placement in larger rooms is only possible to a limited extent due to the design-related maximum volume level. If you describe yourself as a "low-volume listener" and only listen to music at low to medium volumes, we consider rooms up to approx. 35 sqm suitable.
Subwoofer – Can I use the AYERS Three Passive HD in combination with a subwoofer?
Combining the AYERS Three Passive Plus with a subwoofer is not advisable, as this model already has an integrated subwoofer on the side and can play down to the 20 Hz region.
Home Cinema – Can the AYERS Three Passive HD be part of a home cinema set?
Yes, the AYERS Three Passive HD is recommended for small home cinema sets. Due to the laterally integrated subwoofer, which plays very deep, a separate subwoofer can be omitted. The AYERS Three Passive Plus is therefore ideal as a home cinema solution for small apartments. To build a complete home cinema set, we recommend adding the AYERS Center and the AYERS Wall or One as surround speakers.
"HD" Designation – What does "HD" mean in the name of the AYERS Three Passive HD?
The addition stands for our change in enclosure material from MDF (medium-density fiberboard) to HDF (high-density fiberboard). Due to its higher density, HDF has greater internal damping and mass. While MDF is the proven standard, HDF further enhances the performance of your speaker in terms of precision and purity. This has an effect on the bass range, making it even drier, faster, and more precise. Furthermore, the depth and stability of the spatial imaging are further enhanced.
Delivery – Which shipping method is used for the AYERS Three Passive HD?
The AYERS Three Passive HD is delivered as a pair, standing on a half-pallet, via freight forwarding by our partner freight forwarder. Shipping is free within Germany.
Delivery Weight – How heavy is the AYERS Three Passive HD, and can I carry it alone?
The AYERS Three Passive HD has a packaged weight of 25 kg. Depending on your fitness level and the distance you intend to carry the speaker, you may be able to carry it alone. However, we recommend moving the speaker with two people.
